The Medicine Maker / Power List / 2017 / Masters of the Bench / Kenneth Getz

Kenneth Getz

Associate Professor and Director, Center for the Study of Drug Development, Tufts University School of Medicine; Founder and Board Chair, CISCRP

  • Profile

Meet Kenneth Getz

Passion
“Solving the mysteries associated with poor and inefficient drug development processes and optimizing performance to deliver meaningful and relevant new therapies to patients.”

Pivotal moment
“Starting a non-profit dedicated to engaging patients and the public as partners in clinical research, as well as simultaneously accepting an academic position to carry out research into the drug development enterprise, following the sale of my publishing company.”

Predictions
“I would like to see the drug development industry commit to returning clinical trial results summaries directly to all study volunteers as a standard practice, as a way to formally express appreciation for their gift of participation. Today, 90 percent of study volunteers never learn about the results of their own studies.”
